Finding extra cash
I have never heard anyone ever say that they have too much money. No one has too much cash around. Everyone could use a few extra dollars to pay some bills, add to their savings or take a vacation. The problem, then, is finding the money that you need. When people are looking for money they often miss the solutions that are right in front of them, looking instead for grand and complicated solutions. If you need a few extra dollars chances are that you can get it easily and quickly just by using what is around you. Here are 4 places where extra cash is often hiding that people don't think about.
1. Check for savings bonds - You may have received savings bonds as a gift or bought them for yourself years ago. Either way, it is possible that they have matured and you have forgotten about them. Millions of people in this country have retires savings bonds which are forgotten. Look in the back of forgotten drawers or filing cabinets or in your safe-deposit box to see what savings bond certificates or other similar items you have just lying around.
2. Look around your house - Do you have a vase which Aunt Harriet gave you which just collects dust. A painting that is old which you don't really like any more? A piece of furniture which no one ever sits on. Have them appraised. People are often surprised at the value of something they own which they don't use or notice. You may have hundreds or even thousands of dollars just sitting around waiting for you to find it.
3. Have a garage sale - Your house is full of stuff. Some of that stuff is great, but some of it is unnecessary. It doesn't fit or you don't use it anymore or you don't like it or you can do without it. Instead of just storing that stuff for the foreseeable future, why not have a garage sale and turn it into cash. A garage sale is inexpensive to hold, doesn't take much time to put on and can bring in a surprising amount of money which can be used for other, better purposes.
4. eBay it - If you have just basic computer skills you can easily set up an auction on eBay. You can sell almost anything around your house on eBay, get good money for it quickly and easily and have fun doing it, too.
